HOW CAN I VISUALIZE A SINGLE NUMBER?
Icon arrays are those visuals where one shape—sometimes a square, circle, or little dude—is repeated usually 10, 100, or 1,000 times and then some of the icons are color-coded to represent a percentage or proportion
A waffle chart is a specific type of icon array that is made of 100 squares—so it looks like a waffle. The ninja level 1 version of making a waffle chart is to simply color-code some cells in Excel
Start by resizing a 10 × 10 set of cells into squares. I like to leave a little extra space around my waffle chart, so I shrink column A. This way column A and row 1 will serve as a little breathing room. A waffle chart is made of 100 squares, so ours will be constructed in rows 2 through 11 and columns B through K
Then highlight rows 2 through 11 and make them taller. Put your cursor by the 11 and drag down. This will resize all rows at the same time. Your spreadsheet should look like Figure 2.2.
